Warwick, NY . . . Warwick Grove, the new Traditional Neighborhood in Warwick, NY, celebrated the opening of its Post Office and the groundbreaking for the Neighborhood Center with a champagne toast on Sunday at the Post Office building on Cropsey Street. The event marked another important milestone for this award winning development.

The Post Office building was designed by Jeff Degraw of Degraw & DeHaan Architects. A life-long resident of the Hudson Valley, Jeff has become widely known for his historically inspired custom homes and is uniquely qualified to bring the Hudson Valley vernacular to Warwick Grove. The Post office is a classic Greek revival building inspired by the Warwick Village Hall located on Main Street. It features the classic Greek Revival exterior architecture and inside, boasts traditional details such as high, coffered ceilings with deep crown moldings, substantial light-filled windows with wide wood casings and heavily trimmed doors. A bulletin board is accessible for notices and special events. The building will also be furnished with a sorting table and postal supplies.

The Neighborhood Center, due to be completed in early 2007, is designed by Donald Powers of Donald Powers Architects. In addition to the Neighborhood Center, Donald has designed several single-family homes for Warwick Grove including the award winning Onderdonk house. The Queen Anne style building, with its steep gable and mix of cedar shingle and clapboard, will feature a furnished sitting room and library, a gathering hall, and a well-appointed fitness center.

Civic buildings play an important role in the life of a Traditional Neighborhood community, providing meeting places and a civic anchor. Warwick Grove has returned to traditional architectural principles to inspire its civic structures which will be vital contributors to an inviting public realm within the neighborhood.
